Boris Liu is a Los Angeles–based director, producer, and photographer, born in Beijing. He holds an MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a BA from UC Santa Barbara. His work spans narrative films, documentaries, commercials, branded content, and vertical series, with a focus on emotionally driven stories and cinematic visual storytelling.

His latest film Echoes of the Sea received the Platinum Award at the USC Media Institute for Social Change Film Festival and was selected for the Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival, alongside multiple international awards and recognitions, including Best Fantasy Film (Santa Monica International Filmmaker Awards) and Message of Hope (Tokyo International Short Film Festival). His short film The Dumpling King was also officially selected by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). His producing credits include Ebezina (dir. Ifeanyi Ezieme - DGA Student Film Awards Jury Award) and Venice Drifting (Best Student Short, Venice Shorts).

Beyond narrative filmmaking, Boris works at the intersection of cinematic storytelling and commercial content. He has collaborated with brands including Toyota, California Lottery, and Sanofi through Intertrend, producing campaigns that combine strong visual narratives with commercial impact. His Toyota Supra Lunar New Year campaign was recognized at the Great Wall Awards, reflecting his passion for bringing cinematic language into branded storytelling. As Video Producer & Director at Daniel Yu Jewelry, he helped grow the brand's digital presence to over 150K Instagram followers and 200K TikTok followers, with multiple videos surpassing 3M views. He has produced hit vertical series across ReelShort, DramaBox, and Pocket FM, generating millions of views.
